6 Days – Rongai Route

Rongai Route 6 Days

6 Days – Rongai Route

Route Overview

The only path that approaches Kilimanjaro from the north and is close to the Kenyan border is the Rongai route. Despite growing in prominence with climbers, Rongai is not very busy. It is the recommended route for climbers who want a less congested alternative to the busy Marangu route, who want a more remote walk, and who are doing it during the rainy season.

Six days is the bare least needed for this trek, while seven days is advised. Rongai makes up for the lack of variety in the scenery by traveling through genuine wilderness areas for days before connecting to the Marangu route at Kibo camp. The Marangu route is descended on this route. The moderately challenging Rongai route comes highly recommended, especially for individuals with little to no prior backpacking experience.

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Tanzania

Your guide will pick you up from the Kilimanjaro International Airport and drive you to your hotel in Moshi. Your guide will give you a briefing on your forthcoming trip and conduct an equipment check to ensure you have all the appropriate mountain gear. On this day, the equipment that is lacking can be rented.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 2: Nalemoru Gate (1990m) to Simba Camp (2625m)

To begin the Rongai path, we will travel this morning to the town of Nale Moru. The trek’s initial section passes through farms and pine trees. On the way, you might get an opportunity to observe the stunning Colobus monkeys or, if you’re lucky, elephants or buffalo. The Simba Camp, which is 2625 meters above sea level and next to a moorland zone, will be our first camp.

Distance covered: 8km / 5mi
Approx. time taken: 4 – 5 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 3: Simba camp (2626m) – Kikelewa Camp (3679m)

From Simba Camp, we climb 5.8 kilometers up toward Kibo, stopping for lunch at First Caves at 3,482 meters. We continue our hike after lunch until we reach Kikelewa Camp, which is located at roughly 3679 meters. You start to feel like you’re on a pretty enormous mountain as the views start to open up! Water can be obtained in a clear stream that flows beneath the cave, though you might need to walk a little bit downhill to discover a pool or two. Dine and stay the night at the Kikelewa camp.

Approx. time taken: 6 – 7 hours
Distance: Approximately 11.8 km
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 4: Kikelewa Cave (3679m) – Mawenzi Tarn camp (4303m)

Excellent views of this wilderness area are available after a short but difficult trek up grassy slopes. Shortly before you get at your next camp at Mawenzi Tarn, which is magnificently positioned beneath the towering spires of Mawenzi, the vegetation zone ends. The afternoon should be used for exploration and acclimatization.

Distance covered: 8km / 5mi
Approx. time taken: 4 – 5 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 5: Mawenzi Tarn camp (4303m) – Kibo hut (4730m)

We leave for the west after breakfast and continue climbing the mountain on the east side of Kibo, traversing the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo, taking 4 to 5 hours to reach Kibo Hut. Resting up for the final ascent, which starts after midnight, takes up the remainder of the day. a night spent at Kibo hut.

Distance covered: 8km / 5mi
Approx. time taken: 5 – 6 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 6: Kibo hut (4730m) – Uhuru Peak (5895m) – Horombo hut (3705m)

The going gets really difficult once you wake at around 23:20 and head out into the darkness after having some tea and biscuits. The Hans Meyer Cave (5150m), which also serves as an excellent resting location, is reached along a rocky path in the trail’s initial portion.
At Gillman’s point (5 681m), which is situated on the crater rim, the path then ascends in a zigzag pattern. This stretch requires a lot of physical and mental work because it is very steep and covered in stone scree. Most likely, this is the toughest part of the entire course. Slow down and perform the Kili shuffle. Snow typically covers the entire distance from Gillmans Point to Uhuru Peak (5895m), Africa’s highest point.

How long you have to take pictures before the three-hour descent back to Kibo hut depends on the weather conditions at the peak. After a brief pause at Kibo Hot, you gather your equipment that you had left behind for the ascent and go (3 hours) to Horombo Hut, where you will spend the night. In comparison to the ascent, the trip back to Horombo Hut will seem fairly quick. Be ready for a really challenging day because you will be walking for almost 14 hours in total. Later in the evening, you eat your final meal on the mountain (with soft drinks and beer available for purchase at the camp office) before a well-earned night of restful sleep, accompanied by vivid memories and stirring emotions.

Approx. time taken: 7 to 8 hours to reach Uhuru Peak, 6 to 8 hours to descend to Horombo
Distance: Approxim 12 – 15 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 7: Horombo hut (3705m) – Marangu Gate (1860m)

After breakfast, you continue the 6-hour descent to the Marangu gate through the Mandara lodge. It is strongly advised that you wait to tip your porters until you and all of your equipment have arrived at the entrance securely.

You enter your name and contact information in a register at Marangu gate. Successful climbers can also pick up their summit certificates here. Green certificates are given to climbers who made it to Gillman’s Point (5685 m), while gold awards are given to those who made it to Uhuru Peak (5895 m). You now return to Moshi via car for a much-needed hot shower, food, a comfortable bed, and celebrations!

Hiking time: 6 hours
Distance: Approximately 29 km
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 8: Departure

After the hike, you have the rest of the day to relax before your trip home. You might visit Moshi town and buy some souvenirs before going to the airport, depending on your travel schedules.

If you want to continue experiencing Tanzania, add-ons like safaris and trips to Zanzibar are also available.

    9 Days – Northern Circuit

    9 Days – Northern Circuit

    9 Days – Northern Circuit

    Route Overview

The Northern Circuit is the mountain’s newest and longest path. For the first two days, it travels along the same route as the Lemosho route, starting from the Londorossi Gate in the West. The route turns north near Lava Tower after crossing the Shira plateau, taking the lengthier Northern Circuit rather than the shorter Southern Circuit through Barranco Valley. The mountain’s gentler northern slopes are circled on the way to its eastern side. The Northern Circuit on Kilimanjaro is longer than the other circuits and requires at least eight or nine days to complete. The extra day of acclimatization that is typically spent at Shira Camp 2 is skipped during the eight-day trek, which moves directly to Moir Camp.

Day 2: Londorossi Gate (2,100 meters) – Start Point 2,360 meters to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820 meters)

The Lemosho Route and the Northern Circuit Route both start at Londorossi Gate, which is about 2,100 meters to the west. From Moshi, the trip to Londorossi Gate takes about two hours, but the trip from Arusha takes much longer. At the entrance, you must register with the Kilimanjaro National Park authorities before being taken further up the mountain to the trailhead. Before beginning the brief first-day hike to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820 meters), the majority of tour operators serve lunch here. As you hike towards your first camp, you might get lucky and witness enormous creatures like elephants and buffalo that occasionally emerge from the rainforest onto the route. You’ll be given dinner when you get at Mti Mkubwa Camp.

    Distance: ~5.5km / 3 miles
    Trekking time: 3-4 hours
    Zone: Rainforest
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 3: Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820 meters) to Shira Camp 1 (3,610 meters)

Similar to the Lemosho Route, the Northern Circuit Route starts at Londorossi Gate (2,100 meters) in the West. It takes about two hours to go to Londorossi Gate from Moshi, and much longer from Arusha. Once you have registered with the Kilimanjaro National Park authorities at the gate, a vehicle will take you higher up the mountain to the trailhead. Before the short first-day hike to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820 meters), most tour operators serve lunch here. As you make your way to your first camp, you might be fortunate enough to see enormous animals like elephants and buffalo that occasionally come out of the rainforest onto the trail. When you arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp, dinner will be provided.

    Distance: ~5.5km / 3 miles
    Trekking time: 3-4 hours
    Zone: Rainforest
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 4: Shira Camp 1 (3,610 meters) to Shira Camp 2 (3,850 meters)

The hike from Shira Camp 1 to Shira Camp 2 traverses the Shira Plateau on day three. Most nine-day trekkers spend the night at Shira Camp 2, where they will meet up with Machame Route hikers. It is worthwhile to hike a little further up the plateau to Shira Camp 2 to take in the breathtaking views of the valley below and the Western Breach of Kilimanjaro above. Since the plateau is exposed, be ready for a chilly night with lows below zero. Note: Those who are undertaking an eight-day climb will continue to the east along the Shira Plateau ridge until they reach Lava Tower (4,600 meters), after which they will return to Moir Camp (4,200 meters) via the Northern Circuit.

    Distance: ~7km / 4 miles
    Trekking time: 3-4 hours
Zone: Rainforest / Low Alpine Zone
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 5: Shira Camp 2 (3,850 meters) to Moir Camp (4,200 meters)

The fourth day involves a long journey eastward via the “Garden of the Senecios” and into the high alpine desert region. You spend the morning hiking up to Lava Tower, where you will eat lunch, and the famous Shark’s Tooth rock formation at 4,600 meters. You will rejoin the northern circuit after lunch and descend to Moir Camp at 4,200 meters (see the top map). This is a crucial day in your trek since you’ll experience high altitude and then sleep at a low altitude, both of which are beneficial for acclimatization.

    Distance: ~14km / 8 miles
    Trekking time: 5-7 hours
Zone: Low alpine zone / High alpine zone
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 6: Moir Camp (4,200 meters) to Buffalo Camp (4,020 meters)

A moderately difficult climb must be made to leave Moir Valley on day five. Before returning to the Northern Circuit trail, hikers can make a brief diversion to Little Lent Hill’s 4,375-meter summit. From there, the trail ascends and descends again as it skirts the northern slopes of Kibo to Buffalo Camp (4,020 meters). The trip offers stunning views of the plains that extend to the Kenyan/Tanzanian border and are located north of Mount Kilimanjaro. Just after noon, you’ll arrive at Buffalo Camp, where you may eat lunch and take some time to relax after a strenuous day of hiking.

    Distance: ~12km / 7 miles
    Trekking time: 5-7 hours
    Zone: High alpine zone
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 7: Buffalo Camp (4,020 meters) to Rongai Third Cave (3,800 meters)

The climb up the Buffalo Ridge and down into Porfu Camp, where lunch is typically given, mark the beginning of day six. The Rongai Third Cave, located at 3,800 meters, is reached by continuing east along the northern slopes. The hike is shorter than it was the previous day, and you ought to be feeling very acclimated to the altitude by this point. The Third Cave will be reached soon before midday.

    Distance: ~8km / 5 miles
    Trekking time: 5-7 hours
Zone: High alpine zone and low alpine zone
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 8: 3rd Cave (3,800 meters) to School Hut (4,800 meters)

On day seven, there is a gradual ascent up and over the Saddle that separates Kibo and Mawenzi Peak. The next leg of the journey takes hikers up to School Hut (4,800 meters) in the south-west. You will be given an early dinner at School Hut after arriving, so you should get some rest because you will be awakened before midnight to begin your summit attempt. Before turning in for the night, make sure you have everything ready, including warm clothes, insulated water bottles, snacks, a headlamp, and a camera.

    Distance: ~15km / 8 miles
    Trekking time: 4-5 hours
Zone: High alpine zone and glacial zone
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 9: School Hut (4,800 meters) to Uhuru Peak (5895m) to Millennium Camp (3790m)

Around 11:30, steaming tea and biscuits will be served to awaken you before you start the arduous ascent up Kibo’s hills in the shadows. Hans Meyer Cave will serve as your first checkpoint. Here, you’ll have a little break. It will take you around 5 to 6 hours to reach Gilman’s Point (5,681 meters), at which point the ascent becomes more difficult. Enjoy the beautiful view of the setting sun and Mawenzi Peak for a bit, but keep in mind that you still have two hours of hiking to complete to get to Uhuru Peak. As you move west around the crater rim, the slope flattens, and you should reach the peak at or shortly after sunrise.

Since your time here will be limited, take as many photos as you can of the breathtaking vistas and nearby glaciers. When you reach Stella Point (5,739 meters), turn south and proceed down the steep slopes of Kibo to Barafu Camp (4,680 meters), retracing your travels around the crater rim. Before going on to Millennium Camp (3,950 meters), where you will spend your final night on the mountain, most hikers stop here for a little rest. On day eight, you will be walking for a total of 14 to 16 hours, so it’s critical to pace yourself, stay hydrated, and maintain a healthy blood sugar level. Be aware that some tour companies take the Marangu Route from Horombo Hut back to Gilman’s Point.

    Distance: ~6km / 3.5 miles ascent and 10.5km / 6 mile descent
Trekking time: 6-8 hours ascent and then 4-6 hour descent
Zone: Glacial zone and all preceding zones
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 10: Millennium Camp (3,950 meters) to Mweka Gate (1,640 meters)

The final day involves a short climb from Millennium Camp (3,950 meters) to Mweka Gate (1,640 meters) through a thick montane rainforest. Your official certificate—a green one for those who made it to Gilman’s Point and a gold one for those who reached Uhuru Peak-will be given to you by the authorities once you sign out at the gate. Before being brought back to your hotel in Moshi, it is traditional to tip your guide and porter.

    Distance: ~10km / 6.5 miles
    Trekking time: 3-4 hours
    Zone: Rainforest zone
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

    Day 11: Departure

After the hike, you have the rest of the day to relax before your trip home. You might visit Moshi town and buy some souvenirs before going to the airport, depending on your travel schedules.

If you want to continue experiencing Tanzania, add-ons like safaris and trips to Zanzibar are also available.

      6 Days – Umbwe Route

      6 Days – Umbwe Route

      6 Days – Umbwe Route

      Route Overview

The Umbwe path is an easy-to-follow, short, and steep route. It is the most demanding route up Mount Kilimanjaro and is thought to be exceedingly difficult. Umbwe does not offer the requisite steps for acclimation to altitude because of the fast ascent. Although there is extremely little traffic on this route, the likelihood of success is also very low. Although seven days are advised when tackling this route, it is provided at a minimum of six days. Only extremely fit hikers who are confident in their capacity to acclimatize should attempt the Umbwe route. The Umbwe route is generally not advised, and we advise our clients against using it.

Day 2: Umbwe Gate (1,800m/5,905ft) to Cave Bivouac Camp (2,850m/9,350ft)

Leave Moshi for Umbwe Gate at 8 a.m. There, you can meet our porters, guides, and cooks who will accompany you on your six-day trip to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Wait at the gate once you arrive while we register your climb and the porters and guides make any last-minute adjustments. The Cave Bivouac Camp is where you’ll spend the night on your first day; it’s around 6 hours from the gate. The trail has several areas that can be slippery and is steep.Hike through the Kilimanjaro cloud forest’s moss-covered trees. Later on in the trip, the woodland will start to thin and heathers, tall grasses, and wildflowers will start to appear. In order to set up the tent in time for your arrival, porters and cooks will walk ahead.

Elevation Gain: 1,050 meters, 3,445 feet
Hiking time: 4 to 6 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 3: Cave Bivouac (2,850m/9,350ft) to Barranco Camp (3,950m/12,960ft)

The trail’s initial segment keeps following the ridge. To get to Barranco Camp after leaving the forest, travel through open moorlands. Due to its surroundings of enormous senecios and lobelias, Barranco is sometimes cited as the Umbwe Trail’s most picturesque campsite. Barranco’s valley location causes it to rise later than the other camps.

Total Elevation Gain: 1,100 meters, 3,610 feet
Hiking time: 5 to 7 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 4: Barranco Camp (3,950m/12,960ft) to Karanga Valley (4,200m/13,780ft)

After breakfast, go for Karanga Valley from Barranco Camp. A 1.5-hour struggle up the Barranco Wall kicks off the day. This is the hardest section of the day, and you might need to use your hands in some spots to help you climb. Following a rather level trek to the summit, descend quickly but steeply into the lush Karanga River Valley.

Elevation Gain: 250 meters, 820 feet
      Distance: 7 Kilometers
Hiking time: 3 to 5 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 5: Karanga Valley (4,200m/13,780ft) to Barafu Camp (4,600m/15,100ft)

Start the climb to Barafu Camp after breakfast. View several of Kibo’s glaciers as well as the intersection where the Machame path and the Mweka descent route meet on the way to Barafu. Hike alongside the Heim, Kersten, and Decken Glaciers on day four. Barafu Camp offers breathtaking views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks despite the fact that the trail to Barafu travels through alpine desert with minimal flora. As you will need to rise up before midnight for your summit trip, try to get some sleep after dinner.

Elevation Gain: 400 meters, 1,320 feet
Hiking time: 3 to 5 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 6: Barafu Camp (4,600m/15,100ft) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m/19,340ft) to Mweka Camp (3,100m/10,170ft)

Start the last ascent to Uhuru Peak at midnight. For the next six hours, hike by the light of your headlamp. The hardest portion of the entire walk is the rise to the crater rim. Up until Stella Point, where the crater rim is located, the walk is extremely steep.

As far as hikes go, the ascent from Stella Point to Uhuru Peak is gentle and not too challenging. But the hike is long and strenuous because of the altitude. The hike around the crater rim takes around an hour. Before starting the descent to Mweka Camp after reaching Uhuru, snap pictures of your guide and the group at the summit. Enjoy views of the mountain, crater, clouds, and glaciers as you descend from Uhuru.

Eat breakfast and take a quick rest at Barafu Camp. Before you get at Mweka Camp, you still have another three to five hours to travel.

Elevation Gain: 1,295 meters, 4,240 feet
Elevation Loss: 2,795 meters, 9,170 feet
Hiking time: 6 hours to the rim, 1 hour to Uhuru, 3 to 4 hours back to Barafu, 4 hours to Mweka
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 7: Mweka Camp (3,100m/10,170ft) to Mweka Gate (1,500m/4,920ft)

Finish the adventure by hiking through the jungle to Mweka Gate after breakfast. The trail could get slick after it has rained. To transport you back to Moshi, our vehicles will meet you at the lower station of Mweka Gate.

Elevation Loss: 1,600 meters, 5,250 feet
      Hiking time: 4 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

      Day 8: Departure

After the hike, you have the rest of the day to relax before your trip home. You might visit Moshi town and buy some souvenirs before going to the airport, depending on your travel schedules.

If you want to continue experiencing Tanzania, add-ons like safaris and trips to Zanzibar are also available.

          8 Days – Lemosho Route

          8 Days – Lemosho Route

          8 Days – Lemosho Route

          Route Overview

The Lemosho route offers panoramic views of the mountain’s numerous faces, making it the most picturesque trail on Kilimanjaro. Lemosho, one of the most recent routes, is a great option for your ascent. It is our favorite route because it strikes the perfect combination between sparse crowds, stunning scenery, and a high summit success rate. The majority of visitors ascend Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho route, and they have nothing but positive things to say about it. The Lemosho route is one that we strongly advise our customers. With an approach much to the west of the mountain, the ascent starts at Londorossi Gate at a height of 2360 meters. After that, it makes a circuit to the south of Kilimanjaro, traversing the magnificent rainforest and frequently passing by some of the area’s most unusual fauna. Shira Ridge, the third top of the mountain, is reached by continuing up the path.

Day 2: Lemosho Glades (2385m) to Big Tree Camp (2780m)

Around 8:00 am, a driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the Lemosho gate on the western side of Kilimanjaro. After registering, you will still begin your ascent through the Lemosho glades’ woodlands in order to get to Big Tree camp, where you will spend the night.

          Distance covered: 7km / 4.3mi
          Approx. time taken: 4 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 3: Big Tree Camp (2780m) to Shira 1 Camp (3500m)

You will go through a plateau today that is covered with heather and grassy moorland and has volcanic rock formations all over it. The Shira 1 Camp, where there are frequently vistas of Kibo Peak floating in the clouds, is where we will be going today. Today, we gain more altitude, and some of the terrain is quite steep.

          Distance covered: 8.5km / 5.3mi
          Approx. time taken: 7 hrs
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

          Day 4: Shira 1 Camp (3500m) to Shira 2 Camp (3900m)

Today you will have a unique opportunity to see Kibo and the Northern Ice fields from the western side of the mountain. Acclimatization will be aided by our slow ascent across the Shira Plateau’s moorland, and we get to take in some beautiful panoramic views. Today, we’re traveling to the Shira 2 Camp. You’ll go on an acclimatization walk in the late afternoon, then return to camp for dinner and the night.

          Distance covered: 8km / 5mi
          Approx. time taken: 5 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 5: Shira 2 Camp (3900m) to Barranco Camp (3960m)

Your journey begins with an ascent that offers expansive panoramas as you make your way across the upland desert and through lava ridges that are buried beneath the glaciers of the Western Breach. You will arrive at the distinctive peak of the Lava Tower (4640 m), our day’s high point and a fantastic location for lunch. Our tent for the night is at the bottom of the Great Barranco Valley (3960 m), protected by enormous cliffs but with expansive views of the plains below. We descend steeply to get there in the late afternoon.

          Distance covered: 10km / 6.2mi
          Approx. time taken: 7 hrs
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 6: Barranco Camp (3960m) to Karanga Camp (3963m)

We begin our day by descending into the Great Barranco, a sizable ravine. The Great Barranco Wall, which separates us from the southeast slopes of Kibo, is then climbed steeply as we leave. It’s a long and taxing climb over granite that requires minimal technical skill. We move in the direction of the Karanga valley while passing beneath the Heim and Kersten glaciers. From here, it is a difficult ascent from Karanga valley to our overnight camp at 3963m-elevation Karanga camp. If enough people are up for it, we’ll take an afternoon acclimatization hike up to about 4200 meters before returning to camp for the night.

          Distance covered: 5.5km / 3.4mi
          Approx. time taken: 5 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 7: Karanga Camp (3963) to Barafu Camp (4640m)

We started our walk to Barafu camp at 4640m after a restful night’s sleep and breakfast. We will traverse barren scree slopes along the ascent with no vegetation in sight. The altitude makes the steep walk much more challenging. After arriving at camp, we eat and take the afternoon to relax before a hard night and the following day. It’s crucial to stay warm and hydrated. We have dinner early and then try to get some rest because we have to get up between 11 and 12 in the morning to begin the ascent.

          Distance covered: 3km / 1.9mi
          Approx. time taken: 3 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 8: Barafu Camp (4640m) to UHURU PEAK (5895m) & down to Millennium Camp (3790m)

Around midnight, we set out on a difficult ascent to the summit glaciers. We will spend 4 to 5 hours ascending scree but cover a modest distance to reach spectacular heights. The vistas are breathtaking. As the sun rises, we should be near Stella Point (5739m), on the crater rim. We are surrounded by stunning ice cliffs inside the crater, and we have breath-taking vistas of the craggy Mawenzi mountain and beyond. We must hike for an additional hour to reach the peak, Uhuru Peak (5895m). After leaving Stella Point, we start our descent by making our way back to Barafu Camp for breakfast before making our way down to Millennium Camp for a well-earned rest.

          Distance covered: 13.4km / 8.3mi
          Approx. time taken: 12 – 15 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner In

Day 9: Trek Millennium Camp (3790m) to Mweka Gate (1630m)

We make a leisurely descent through the rain forest to the Mweka Gate, where we finish park formalities and earn certificates that you may display with pride! Once we return to the hotel in Moshi, where you can treat yourself to a hot welcome shower, we are welcomed by our vehicles.

          Distance covered: 12.1km / 7.5mi
          Approx. time taken: 6 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

          Day 10: Departure

After the hike, you have the rest of the day to relax before your trip home. You might visit Moshi town and buy some souvenirs before going to the airport, depending on your travel schedules.

If you want to continue experiencing Tanzania, add-ons like safaris and trips to Zanzibar are also available.

            6 Days – Machame Route

            Route Overview

Given its reputation for being a challenging ascent, the Machame route-also known as the Whiskey route—is distinguished from the simpler Marangu path, which is known as the Coca-Cola Way. Contrary to the Marangu Route’s moderate rise and hut accommodations, climbers on Machame trek steeper paths over greater distances while camped out in tents. On the mountain, the Machame Route ascent can be completed in no less than six days. For a better altitude acclimation plan, it is typically completed over seven days. The walk starts at Machame Gate, which is situated in the mountain’s lush, productive rainforest at the southern mountain base. The climber is treated to stunning vistas from every angle as the route advances toward the Shira Plateau and then circles halfway around the mountain along the southern circuit. The Mweka trail is used for both the ascent and descent of the top, which is approached from the east.

It takes an hour to get from Moshi to the Machame gate, where we check in with the park, meet our team of porters, and begin the climb! The initial part of the course ascends gradually and travels through a stunning, heavily forested area. Since this walk is seldom used, it can become fairly overgrown in some spots and is frequently muddy and moist to the touch.

Day 3: Machame Camp (3010m) to Shira Camp (3845m)

Until we reach the difficult rise onto the Shira Plateau, where there are spectacular views of the mountain, our journey continues up through the forest. You can see Mt. Meru rising above the town of Arusha in the distance if you turn around and look back.

We begin our day by making our way down into the Great Barranco, a sizable ravine. The Great Barranco Wall, which separates us from the southeast slopes of Kibo, is then climbed steeply as we leave. It’s a lengthy and taxing climb over granite, not particularly difficult. Our final opportunity to get fresh water before the summit is in the Karanga valley, which we approach by passing beneath the Heim and Kersten glaciers. As we move through parched and bleak country near Barafu camp, scree now makes up the terrain.

              6 Days – Marangu Route

              6 Days – Marangu Route

              Route Overview

The Marangu path, also referred to as the “Coca-Cola” route, is a well-known journey up Mount Kilimanjaro. The oldest and most established route is this one. Given its gentle slope, the Marangu route is preferred by many since it is thought to be the easiest path on the mountain. Additionally, it is the only route that provides dormitory-style sleeping huts.

The least number of days needed for this trip is five, although the likelihood of successfully completing it in that time is very slim. When ascending Kilimanjaro via the Marangu route, an additional day of acclimatization is strongly advised.

Nevertheless, despite the Marangu route’s enormous popularity, we avoid guiding climbs there. Because the ascent and descent follow the same path, the route has the least difference in the scenery of all the routes and is also the busiest. Only in the rainy season are the hut lodgings popular in Marangu.

Day 2: Marangu Gate (1860m) to Mandara Hut (2700m)

You will be picked up from your Moshi lodging after breakfast and driven to the Marangu gate. You can start your walk as soon as the relevant paperwork is finished, and you will soon be traveling into the thick rainforest. As you make your way to the Mandara Hut, you will have the opportunity to see several primates in addition to the spectacular foliage. Your guide might drive you to the Maundi Crater where you can take in the breathtaking vista of Kenya’s interior after a well-earned break.

              Distance covered: 8.3km / 5.2mi
              Approx. time taken: 5 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 3: Mandara Hut (2700m) to Horombo Hut (3700m)

Breakfast is had early in the day. You will quickly cross the timberline and enter the heath and moor region after leaving Mandara Hut. The Horombo Hut, which is located at a height of 3700 meters, will become visible approximately 4 to 6 hours later. Fantastic views of Mawenzi, Kibo, and the expansive Masai steppe may be seen from the hut.

              Distance covered: 12.5km / 7.8mi
              Approx. time taken: 9 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 4: Acclimatization trek to Zebra Rocks (4020m) then back to Horombo Hut (3700m)

Today is used as a day of acclimatization. This considerably increases your chances of succeeding in reaching the summit and shouldn’t be undervalued. A leisurely breakfast is followed by a four-hour hike to the Zebra Rocks (4020m). The name of the rock formation is derived from its striking black and white stripes. You will find a hot meal waiting for you when you get back to Horombo Hut. The following day’s hike will go better if you unwind in the afternoon.

              Distance covered: 5km / 3.1mi
              Approx. time taken: 4 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 5: Horombo Hut (3700m) to Kibo Hut (4700m)

The stage today is lengthy and difficult. The “Last Water point” and the alleged “saddle” are both passed by the well-built trail. This plateau, almost devoid of vegetation, connects Mawenzi to Kibo, the main summit. The Kibo Hut is where we’re going today, and it generally takes 5 to 6 hours to get there. You will eat dinner early and go to bed early because the night will be brief here.

              Distance covered: 9.5km / 5.9mi
              Approx. time taken: 7 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 6: Kibo Hut (4700m) to UHURU PEAK (5895m) & down to Horombo Hut (3700m)

“The Big Day” – the summit stage – is today. Around midnight, your long and exhausting final ascent will start. The ascent continues upward after passing the Hans Meyer Cave at 5220m. You will arrive at Gillman’s Point (5681m), the crater rim of Kilimanjaro, at sunrise, where the light will begin to gradually warm the ground. You will soon forget the night’s chill, and after another hour or two of hiking, you will reach Uhuru Peak at 5895 meters. Once you get back to Kibo Hut, a hot supper is waiting for you, after which you’ll take a one- to two-hour break before returning to Horombo Hut.

              Distance covered: 22km / 13.7mi
              Approx. time taken: 12 – 15 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 7: Horombo Hut (3700m) to Marangu Gate (1860m)

The final step leads to the Mandara Hut (2700m), where a hearty meal is waiting for you after passing through the heath and moor zone. Your return to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate (1860m) will take place after a total of 6 hours of hiking through the tropical rainforest. A brief transfer takes you back to your hotel in Moshi after you say farewell to your mountain guides. Once there, you can enjoy a warm shower and toast your accomplishment of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

              Distance covered: 20.8km / 12.9mi
              Approx. time taken: 8 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

                Distance covered: 10.8km / 6.7mi
                Approx. time taken: 8 hrs
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 5: Barranco Camp (3960m) to Karanga Camp (3963m)

Day 6: Distance covered: 5.5km / 3.4mi Approx. time taken: 5 hours Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 7: Barafu Camp (4640m) to UHURU PEAK (5895m) & down to Millennium Camp (3790m)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Day 8: Trek Millennium Camp (3790m) to Mweka Gate (1630m)

We make a leisurely descent through the rain forest to the Mweka Gate, where we finish park formalities and obtain certificates that you may display with pride. Once we return to the hotel in Moshi, where you can treat yourself to a warm welcome shower, we are welcomed by our vehicles.

                Distance covered: 12.1km / 7.5mi
                Approx. time taken: 6 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

                Day 9: Departure

After the hike, you have the rest of the day to relax before your trip home. You might visit Moshi town and buy some souvenirs before going to the airport, depending on your travel schedules.

If you want to continue experiencing Tanzania, add-ons like safaris and trips to Zanzibar are also available.

                  7 Days – Rongai Route

                  7 Days – Rongai Route

                  7 Days – Rongai Route

Rongai is a route that is relatively challenging and is highly advised, especially for people who have little prior backpacking experience.

Day 3: Simba Camp (2625m) to 2nd Cave Camp (3480m)

The Second Cave Camp, which is in the moorland zone and has spectacular views of Kibo and the Eastern ice fields on the crater rim, is reached after a morning climb that involves a gradual ascent.

                  Distance covered: 5km / 3.1mi
                  Approx. time taken: 3 – 4 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Include

We will spend a night at Kibo hut.
